New United States Equestrian Federation Microchip Rule Changes for 2018

Microchipping Beginning in the 2018 competition year, all horses competing in USEF-licensed and/or USHJA-sanctioned competitions with Hunter, Hunter Breeding, Jumper, and Hunter/Jumping Seat Equitation classes not restricted by breed will be required to be microchipped to receive points. The following year, this will be a requirement for all horses competing in these classes. In preparation, the USEF is working with the USHJA to provide education materials to competitors to learn more about microchipping and the rules (HU101, JP100, EQ103). At a competition, exhibitors may ask to turn in a USEF Microchip Reporting Form. If you receive one of these forms, please include it with the other post-competition forms you send to the USEF. The completion of this form is the sole responsibility of the competitor, competition staff are not responsible for assisting in the completion of the forms. If there are any questions regarding completing the form or microchipping, the USEF Customer Care Center will be happy to assist by phone at (859) 258-2472 or email at customercare@usef.org.
