~ INTERNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION ~
 
JOB DURATION: 1 year starting in June
INSURANCE: Full medical benefits on the employee. Spouse and family may be included in the corporate policy at employee expense. Liability insurance is included.
PAGER: Supplied, however a cell phone is required for on call duty.
DRESS CODE: Slacks and shirts or blouses are considered appropriate. Denim or jeans and T-shirts are not appropriate.
EQUIPMENT: The intern is required to have his/her own stethoscope.
TRANSPORTATION: Not supplied. A veterinary truck will be supplied for ambulatory or emergency work, but is otherwise committed.
EMERGENCY WORK: The intern will begin a normal emergency duty rotation approximately 2 weeks after arrival. This will include shared primary duty and secondary duty split with the other interns. A senior veterinarian will be available on back up call at all times. The intern will have 2 weekends a month off unless attending their hospitalized cases. All staff veterinarians carry 24 hour pagers to help if needed unless out of town.
VACATION/SICK DAYS: 5 vacation days, not to be taken in the last 30 days of employment. 3 sick days per year.
STATE LICENSE: State license is required prior to beginning the internship. The test is offered monthly. Intern is responsible for all fee.
COMPENSATED CONTINUING EDUCATION: Allowed 2 CE days per year and a $500 stipend to be used only for continuing education purposes.
